The Togo lymphatic filariasis programme receives GAELF’s recognition for achieving elimination
At the GAELF10 meeting last year in India a number of countries who had recently achieved the WHO status of having eliminated LF as public health problem were presented with a celebratory plaque recognising their great achievement.
The team from Togo, another country that had achieved success, was unfortunately unable to attend the meeting in India.
However, a recent Mectizan Donation Program gathering in Lome, Togo provided the opportunity for Charles Mackenzie on behalf of GAELF, together with WHO LF contact person Jonathan King, to congratulate and present the Minister of Health of the Republic of Togo, Dr Mijiyawa, with the GAELF plaque honoring his country’s achievement.
